Betty Jane Bettilyon Campbell

1933 ~ 2018

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Betty Jane Campbell peacefully returned home to her Heavenly Father on October 17, 2018, just one week before her 85th birthday.

Betty was born in Washington D.C. on October 23, 1933. She was the daughter of B. Lue Bettilyon and Hope Sanford Bettilyon. She grew up in the Salt Lake Valley for most of her life, and was a graduate of East High School.

Betty was a hard-working, loving, and devoted mother of four wonderful children, Bill Ware (Antonina Kerttula), K.C. (Diane) Ware, Jon (Michelle) Ware, Kim (Brad) Nelson, and was blessed to add two more daughters Lucie (Ron) Jarrett and Peggy (Lloyd) Layton to her family upon her marriage to Dan Pickett Campbell. She and Dan were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on November 2, 1977. Family mattered more to Betty than most anything in her life, and she spent her many years giving generously of her love and resources to make sure each of her grandchildren felt cherished and special. During her lifetime, her family has grown to 28 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren, all of whom have their pictures prominently displayed on "the wall" in her home for all to admire as much as she did.

Betty held strong to her testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ her entire life, serving faithfully in many church callings, including as a supervisor in the Salt Lake Temple, and three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with her husband Dan, in the West Indies, and twice in Nauvoo, Illinois.

Betty also had a great talent for and love of music, a legacy she has passed on to many of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who continue the tradition of music appreciation with their families.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dan, and great-grandchildren Isaac Matthew Layton, Raegan Maci Ware, and Elijah Kaye Mabb. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Friday, October 19, 2018 from 6-8pm at Larkin Mortuary 260 East South Temple. Graveside services and burial will be at the Providence City Cemetery in Providence, Utah on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 12:00pm.
