Elna Rae Corless Johnson

1933 ~ 2017

Elna Rae Corless Johnson born March 7, 1933, passed away December 17, 2017. She is the daughter of goodly parents, Ottalee Kearl of Laketown, Utah and Frank Russell Corless of Randolph, Utah. She graduated from South Rich High School where she was one of 12 Seniors. She rode the School Bus 12 miles on those cold Rich County Winters. She was always proud of her Rich County roots.

She married Albert Matthew Johnson on August 23, 1965 in Jackson Hole Wyoming. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on March 11, 1988. In their 39 years together they enjoyed many good "Rock-hounding" trips and volunteered together at the Utah State Library for the Blind for 20+ years. Elna continued serving there after Albert passed away June 23, 2003.

Elna graduated from LDS Business College in Salt Lake City and worked at Utah Printing Company and later Mountain Bell (US West/Qwest) where she held several customer service positions and retired as a Staff Manager with 30 years of service. She was known for perfect attendance as she rarely missed a day at work. She also retired from Fidelity Investments after 7 years as a receptionist and Data Entry Clerk.

It was never Elna's privilege to have children, but she loved and enjoyed Albert's children, Larry (Ericka) and Lynda (George Thornton). Lynda preceded her in death on September 1, 2004 and was missed very much. Elna dearly loved her seven grandchildren: Erick, who passed away December 24, 2015, John (Wendy, who passed away October 1, 2017), Mary (J.B.), Mary Lu (Don), James (Amber), Lynda (Shane), and Doug (Sara). She had fifteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. Her only brother Frank Russell Corless, Jr (Ilo) passed away July 20, 2012 and Ilo passed away May 27, 2017. They had given her three beloved nephews: Jeff (Jerri Lynn), Tim (Kristi) and Jared (Delia) Corless and an equally beloved niece, Patricia (Jeff) Corless Treseder. They gifted her with eleven much loved grand nieces and nephews.

Her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints brought her much joy. She loved the Gospel and served in several callings including a Mission as a Hostess taking tours through the beautiful Conference Center for nine years and also as an Ordinance Worker at the Jordan River Temple for several years. She enjoyed quilting and loved her quilting buddies.

The family would like to thank Inspiration Hospice and Home Care, Beehive Home of Herriman and Harmony Hills at Lehi.

A graveside service will be held at Salt Lake City Cemetery (4th Avenue and ‘N' Street, Salt Lake City, Utah) Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family may call Thursday, December 21, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary (260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah).
