Elinore Rose Doolin

1926 ~ 2016

Elinore Rose Doolin, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 in her home. Elinore was born in Silverton, Oregon to Helmer and Evelyn Nerison on December 15, 1926. At an early age Elinore's family moved to Minneapolis where she grew up. In 1946-1947 she was crowned Flame Girl for the Minneapolis Fire Department. Elinore did modeling for a few years until the love bug hit and she married James Doolin. James and Elinore were married on October, 1947. James and Elinore had three children and Elinore's family became the most important thing in her life.

Elinore was a talented seamstress, always busy sewing for friends and family. She worked out of her house selling Avon and had a successful business selling diamonds. She loved spending weekend nights dancing with her beloved Jim.

In 1954 the family moved to Salt Lake City because Jim was transferred for his job. In 1972 Jim and Elinore were transferred back to Minneapolis where they lived for 15 years. While in Minneapolis, Jim and Elinore traveled the world for Jim's work. Together they were able to share wonderful sights and beautiful memories. Upon retirement in 1987 they moved back to Salt Lake City to be closer to their family.

Elinore and her husband lived a happy life until Jim became ill with diabetes. Jim preceded her in death in 2000.

In her later years Elinore enjoyed gardening, playing bridge and spending time with her great grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children; Michael Doolin (Sharlene), Barbara Gledhill (Douglas), Timothy Doolin (Gail), four grandchildren; Alycia Anthony (Rick), James Doolin (Nicholl), Heather Doolin, Eric Doolin and five great grandchildren. Elinore was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant son.

The family would like to thank Brightstar, especially Patti and Andy, and Horizon Hospice Care.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 8575 South 700 East. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake in Elinore's name, 463 South 400 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84101.
