Kenneth Arnold Featherstone

1934 ~ 2017

Kenneth Featherstone returned to his heavenly home in the early hours of June 6, 2017. After a 13-year struggle with Alzheimer's, he is finally free to be himself again ‚ a happy, fun-loving man beloved by all who knew him.

Ken was blessed with a gentle, loving and caring nature which drew everyone to him throughout his life. He was born the fifth child of eight, to Stephen and Emma Featherstone, on March 7, 1934 in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City, Utah. He learned to work hard and always do his best. At South High School, he excelled in the sports he loved so much: football, basketball and baseball. He enjoyed singing in the a cappella choir and it was there that he met and fell in love with Gay Dillingham. He graduated in 1952, and they were married the following year. Their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple on June 12, 1953 was the beginning of a great adventure.

Three beautiful children were born to them: Kelly Russell, Debra Ann and Eddie Arnold. During these years Ken worked many long hours in the produce department of the grocery business, working his way up from clerk to manager, to district supervisor for Albertson's and other major grocers. He built beautiful displays, winning numerous awards and accolades, and oversaw many new store openings in Utah, Montana, Idaho and California.

Eight years before he retired, he and Gay were privileged to be tour guides at the L.D.S. Conference Center from 2000 to 2008. It was here his love of the Savior and church grew and brought him much joy.

Our family has grown to 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren to date.

We wish to thank all our dear family and friends who have been part of our lives and helped us throughout the years, sharing many beautiful moments and creating wonderful memories. Special thanks go to Ken's caregivers ‚ Larry Lucas, Eric and Melissa Starzecki ‚ for their Dedicated and loving care.
