Sherman Dean Miller

1940 ~ 2015

Our loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on July 2, 2015 after a long and painful battle with 3 cancers and heart problems. If ever there was someone with 9 lives, it was him. He fought many battles and always landed on his feet. He was born in Bingham Canyon on November 12, 1940 to Lloyd H. and Arvella Nicholls Miller.

Sherm graduated from Jordan High May 1959 where he played football, baseball, wrestling and track. Married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Ann Hirsch May 22, 1961 in Midvale Utah. Sherm worked and retired from Kennecott Copper Smelter after 43-1/2 years, making many long lasting friendships. During this time he served as Union President of the United Steelworkers Clerical Local 4329 for many years. He coached girls and co-ed softball, enjoyed trips to California for tournaments and of course Disneyland.

Sherm enjoyed many camping and hunting trips with family, most of all he loved watching his grandkids participate in their sports, helping with the family chariot teams. He loved the family outings at East Canyon and going to his \"Idaho camping spot\" relaxing, watching the wild life roam the mountains. Sherm, rest in peace as you are now out of pain and having a great reunion with family members that have gone before you.

Sherm is survived by his wife, Pat; two daughters Susan (Kent) Breinholt, Brenda (Todd) Matthews, one son Thomas Miller, Daughter-in-law, Andrea Jones Miller, 3 grandsons, Tanner Matthews, Chandler Miller, Keith Matthews. 3 step granddaughters Danielle, Jenny, Julie and his loyal 4 legged girlfriend, Brittany. Two Brothers Leon (VaLeta) Miller; Russ (Austa) Miller, sister Louise Withers. Brother-in-law Frank Hirsch, Aunt Audrey Whiting and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
