David Marius Maurer

1933 ~ 2017

David Marius Maurer passed away peacefully on the morning of June 2, 2017. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 22, 1933 to Clarence and Virginia Maurer. He graduated from South High School and attended BYU. He married Marilyn Eldredge in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 10, 1953 and together they had four children, Kathy (Bruce) Bevan, Ray (Linda) Maurer, Todd (Stephanie) Maurer and Bonnie (Jeff) Walbeck. He is also the grandfather of 20 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 36 (and counting) great-grandchildren.

Dad grew up working for his father and grandfather learning the construction and custom home building business from them. He owned and ran a successful business where he prided himself on craftsmanship and "doing the job right the first time". He passed these skills on to his sons and grandsons. His spare time almost always took him outdoors: camping, hunting, sports, spending time with his family and fearlessly trying anything that looked fun or adventurous. He was a loving and kind father who always strived to support his family in all their endeavors. Dad was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he enjoyed serving his fellow man and Father in Heaven.

He was known for a couple of sayings: "Smile, be happy, the worst is yet to come"; and "I may not always be right but I am never wrong".

David was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Larry, and his beloved Marilyn. He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and by his siblings John (Pat) Maurer, Carolyn (Bob) Christensen, Chris (Vern) Utley and Melody (Mike) Williams and by his sister-in-law, Judy Maurer.

The family wishes to express gratitude to Alta Ridge ‚ Holladay Care Facility and Encompass Home Health and Hospice for their kind and loving care prior to David's passing.
