Earl LeRoy Latimer

1941 ~ 2018

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, Earl LeRoy Latimer, passed away April 18, 2018 in Salt Lake City, UT. He was born March 8, 1941 to Virgil LeRoy and Helen Edith Levin Latimer in Auburn, CA. He married Ruth Nellie Lund October 28, 1960. They were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple in 1962. Together they had 5 children, Jim (Gretchen) Latimer, Paul (Sherry) Latimer, Kent (Renae) Latimer, Ed (Paula) Latimer and Sue (Bob) Adair.

Earl worked and served his apprenticeship at Associated Sheet Metal. After mastering his craft, he went into business with a partner and they started Ute Sheet Metal. Later he rejoined Local 312 and worked for Western Sheet Metal until he retired.

He was a passionate outdoorsman with a love of nature. He would go horseback riding with companions or alone if nobody was available. He loved duck, pheasant and deer hunting, but most of all, he had a passion for fishing. He belonged to the Strawberry Anglers Association. He fished for bass, trout and went to Alaska to fish for salmon.

He was an active member of the LDS Church Crescent View Ward. Along with Scout Master, he served as Ward Clerk. He worked on Fridays in the Draper LDS Temple until illness forced him to slow down.

Earl is survived by his wife Ruth, 5 children and their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers Mick (Laine) and Virgil (Anne) Latimer and sister Jeannine (Eldon) Tryon. Preceded in death by his parents, step-father Ronald Joseph and brother Bruce Latimer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Crescent View Ward, 10980 South 1700 East, Sandy, UT. A visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6-8pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) and Monday morning from 10-10:45am prior to the services at the church.
