Robert "Bob" passed away at home peacefully surrounded by friends and loved ones after complications of a stroke. He was born on October 17, 1935, in Twin Falls, ID, to Lyle Claire Schmidt and Lottie Louise Schmidt.
Robert retired from Kennecott Copper in 1999 after serving 35 years as a lab technician. His first love was baseball and he even got to try out for the Washington Senators in 1956. He also loved football, basketball, and hockey. He loved camping, fishing and working in his yard, family and going to coffee with his many friends.
He is survived by his wife; Mary Lynne Schmidt, daughter; Tami Katz and her husband George, sons; Robert Lee Schmidt Jr. and Scott Lane Schmidt, sisters; Mary Alice Frandsen of St George and Janet Rae Vance of Reno, Nevada.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 11:00am at The Chateau at Le Jardin, 1910 East Dimple Dell Rd. in Sandy.
