Julia Edith Jack Nixon

1921 ~ 2017

Julia Edith Jack Nixon, age 96 passed away on February 7, 2017. She was born on January 1, 1921 in New York City, NY to Joseph Erle and Edith Forsberg Jack.

At the age of 2 they moved to Salt Lake City. She remained in the same neighborhood where she made and maintained lifelong friendships. She married Norton Dean Nixon on March 12, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. She taught first grade for 25 years, where her talents and love were shared with many. Julia loved serving in many capacities in the LDS church. In their retirement, she and Norton were able to serve a full time mission in Brazil. They were married 55 years when Norton passed away in January of 2000. Her life was one of obedience to the principles of her faith. She had a testimony of Jesus Christ and witnessed it through her service. She taught us through her example to be kind, courageous, obedient, selfless, and to endure to the end.

She is survived by her brother, Joseph Jack. Her children, Elizabeth, Janet, Carol, Patricia, Jack (Delsi) and her grandchildren, Maren and Jack. Preceded in death by her sister, Jeanne and grandson Michael.

Services will be held Saturday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. in the LDS Yale Ward Chapel, 1431 Gilmer Drive. Friends may call Friday, February 10 from 6-7:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church.
