Timothy Richard Isaacs

1959 ~ 2019

Timothy Richard Isaacs passed away at the age of 60 on Sunday June 23rd at 1:00 pm in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. He was born on April 6th 1959 in Salt Lake City to Patricia Cima Isaacs and Richard Isaacs. He graduated from Highland High School in 1976. He was married to Shannon Lee Pinney from 1985 to 1993. During this time, he became a father of two children, Sarah (33) and Patrick (29). In 1998 he was re-married to Valerie Leahy who passed in May 2018.

Tim was a talented man in both the arts and sciences. He spoke French, played five musical instruments, and won multiple Utah State Science contests and cooking contests while in high school. He was a member of the Boy Scouts, and became an Eagle Scout as well as a member of the Order of the Arrow. He also studied electrical engineering at the University of Utah. Many who knew him referred to him as a renaissance man because of his great many talents in so many different subjects.

Tim's interest in television began in high school, and in 1977 he began working at KUTV, and eventually moved on to work at KSL in 1979 working in lighting. He was passionate about his work as a lighting designer and eventually went into freelance work in his own name with Isaacs Lighting and Design in 1987, leaving KSL in 1991. He had an innate ability to connect with people and was very successful in the industry because of this. He worked on a wide variety of projects in film and television, and touched many lives over the years.

Tim was also a long-time member of the local pagan community. His interest in divination and magic began in his teens with the I Ching, as he began looking for his own path. He worked with several public groups including the OTO and covens over the years and lead one of his own called Sunwise for 9 years. He was always forging his own path, finding ways to practice that were true to himself and his nature, and loved teaching and passing on his knowledge and power to other members of the community.

Tim enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping, hiking, astronomy, fishing and swimming. He brought innovation to everything he did, and left his own spin on everything he touched. Tim\s spirit, laughter and facial expressions always had a hint of mischievousness in them. It is what made him so endearing.

Tim leaves behind many dear friends and colleagues whom he influenced by his kind nature and willingness to mentor them whether in life or in the lighting and television profession. Tim was a generous soul who enjoyed and accepted people as they were.

Tim\s family thanks Dr. Robert E. Fowles his cardiologist, and Dr. Ann Richards his internist of Intermountain Healthcare for the amazing care provided over years that most certainly gave us the good fortune to have Tim with us for as long as possible.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Patricia and his wife, Valerie. He is survived by his children Sarah and Patrick, his sisters Tamara (Louis) Vitela and Teri (Shane) Charlesworth as well as nieces Mikaela (Paydon) Charlesworth-Neuman, Sydnee (Dominic) Charlesworth, and Summerlin Charlesworth and Alejandra Vitela.

Guestbook/Condolences

My friends and I knew Tim while he was bartending at the Twelve Oaks Club on West Temple. After Golden Eagles hockey we used to cross the street and enjoy a night of new wave music and dancing. Always wondered what he was doing but lost track. Ran into one of the other bartenders Peter a couple of years ago. He did not now where Tim was these days. Was pretty excited to stumble across his Facebook page ad thought I could finally send him a message. The sadly I then ran across his obit. He was a great human. I really liked him. The photo with the beard is exactly my memory of him, in his black pants boots and suspenders. Always looking ahead of the trend. Peace Tim.
