Earl Reynolds Watrous

1934 ~ 2014

Earl Reynolds Watrous was born in Murray, Utah on March 3, 1934 to Earl P. and Ellen Stauffer Watrous. He graduated from Murray High School and received his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Weber State College. He married JoAnne Christensen on November 26, 1954. They were happily married for almost 60 years.

He began working for the Salt Lake County Sheriff\s Office in 1961 and retired as a Captain after 33 years of dedicated service, doing what he truly loved. He made many lifelong friends during this time. His proudest accomplishment was his family. He loved family activities such as fishing, camping, traveling and coaching his sons in sports. He also enthusiastically supported his grandchildren in all their various activities.

Survived by his wife JoAnne, his three sons Jeffrey (Karen) Watrous, Brant Watrous and Dirk Watrous; his grandsons, Darin (Teri) Watrous (raised as a son), Zachary (Audrey) Watrous, Brantly Watrous, Mitchell Watrous, and his granddaughters, Ashli (Chuck) Luna, Chelsea (Travis) Cook, Brianne (Cody) Petersen; his great-granddaughters, Ryli Luna, Lia Petersen, Addison Watrous, Saige Petersen, Kambri Luna, Brielle Petersen; his beloved cousins Arthur Bishop and Arlene Markosian. Preceded in death by his parents, his half-sister Wilma Watrous Hambleton, his daughter Shauna Watrous and his cousin Jean Bishop.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2014 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 So.) followed by a graveside service at the Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. College St. (4580 So.). Online condolences: www.larkincares.com
