Samisoni Manu Ngata

1949 ~ 2019

Samisoni Manu Ngata, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother, peacefully departed from this mortal existence on February 22, 2019 while surrounded by family at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Samisoni was born in Vaotu'u, Tonga on August 25, 1949 to Nimilote Finau Ngata and Amelia Lose Manu. He was married and sealed to the love of his life, Tofilamoa Kinikini, on November 22, 1980, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Since his youth, Samisoni was known to possess qualities of a noble character, a hard work ethic, integrity and strict obedience to what he knew to be true. He was a man of service to his family, church and community. Samisoni was a champion boxer in the south pacific and a true fighter in all aspects of life, fighting numerous health issues for the last 8 years.

Samisoni was a loyal and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He worked as a veil worker at the Salt Lake LDS Temple and served faithfully in maintaining the order and cleanliness of the chapel building to ensure that it truly represented the Lord's dedicated home here on earth.

Samisoni's wife, kids and grandchildren were his life and he gave and sacrificed his everything to take care and provide for them.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Tofilamoa Kinikini Ngata, children: Nimilote Finau Ngata (Mayra), Lea'aetohi Ryan Ngata, Amelia Lose Ngata, Moroni Tu'i'onetoa Ngata and Solomone Naeata Ngata; 4 grandchildren: Sariah Lose Ngata, Finau Alvino Ngata, Cesar Samisoni Ngata, and Vanessa Evelyn Ngata; Siblings, Tafokitau Fauonuku, Selu, Meliame Tu'akoi, Sione Naeata Ngata, Sepiuta Penisini, and Pouvalu Ngata. Preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and siblings: Vili Fauonuku, Heilala, and Solomone Ngata.

A viewing will be held at the SL Tongan Stake Center, 1621 South 1100 East, Salt Lake City, UT. on Friday, March 1, 2019, from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Cannon 2nd Chapel, 1172 South Glendale Drive, Salt Lake City, UT. Burial service to follow immediately after at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, UT.
