Bonnie Jean Borg Johnson

1951 ~ 2017

Bonnie Jean Borg Johnson passed away in the early morning hours of Friday September 29th, 2017, peacefully at home with her loving husband by her side, after a tremendous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Bonnie was born on a beautiful summer day, June 23, 1951 to Kenneth P. and Annette Newman Borg (later divorced). She grew up in Salt Lake, attending Dilworth Elementary, Hillside Jr. High, and Highland High School. She graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Family and Consumer Studies. Bonnie married her eternal companion, Stephen Ray Johnson, in the Salt Lake Temple on March 23, 1976. Together they raised a beautiful family of three children, Elizabeth Jean, Emily Ann, and Daniel Stephen. She was also blessed when Kelsie Haymond married Danny and joined their family. Bonnie was delighted at the birth of their daughter, Adela Jane, her first grandchild, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her baby sister.

Her family was her joy! Bonnie loved her brother and sisters, their spouses, and many nieces and nephews. She developed and kept many lifelong friendships, some for over 60 years. Bonnie cherished those friendships and is grateful to her friends, family, and ward for their love and support.

Bonnie was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in every auxiliary presidency and loved all her callings, but Primary was her favorite. She loved her primary children! Bonnie marveled at the beauties of our Saviors' creations, was a Master Gardner, and enjoyed vacationing with her family in Montana, Hawaii, and Disneyland. She was an avid Runnin' Utes Basketball fan and had season tickets for 38 years. Prior to having children, Bonnie worked at Beneficial Life and the Pizza Oven (Best Pizza Ever!). After her children were in school, she worked part-time at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Bonnie also enjoyed many years of crafting and cross-stitch, having worked at both the Lace Place and Rainbow Crafts. After her retirement, she worked many hours in her gardens, creating a beautiful landscape around her home for many to enjoy. Her lovely gardens were a labor of love, teaching many life lessons and providing many beautiful flowers and delicious vegetables.

Survived by her beloved husband, Steve; dear children: Elizabeth Johnson, Emily Johnson, Daniel (Kelsie) Johnson; Grandchildren: Adela Johnson, Baby J (due March 2018); Siblings: Ken (JoAnn) Borg, Sue (Jim) Archuletta, Kathy (Jerry) Huish, Wendy (Bob) Lewis, Shannon (Mike) Wikstrom; and many loving nieces and nephews.
