Hamilton James Wiley returned peacefully to his Father in Heaven on March 24, 2020. He was born to Rendolph John Wiley and Vivian Eliason on December 14, 1926 in Logan, Utah.
During World War II he joined the US Navy on January 15, 1944 and served in the Pacific aboard the USS Dobin and USNB Navy 3002 until May 15, 1946.
After his service in the Navy, Hamilton married Rose Marie Rogers. They like to joke that they were married three times but were never divorced. They eloped to Evanston, Wyoming on April 23, 1946 but didn't tell anyone. While riding with Rose Marie's father, he told them that if they ever ran away and got married that he'd kill the S.O.B. so they married again on June 30, 1947 and were later Sealed in the Logan Temple on October 4, 1950.
Hamilton and Rose Marie raised seven children: Dee Ann Spencer, Edna Kaye Doerr, Laura Lea Cox, Judy Young, Janice Wiley, Janet Searl, Robert Wiley, 15‚Grand Children, 28‚Great Grand Children, and 10‚Great Great Grand Children.
He is preceded in death by Dee Ann (Wiley) Spencer, Janice Wiley, and grandson Johnny Michael Doerr.
Hamilton worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a diesel mechanic and semi-truck driver from 1952 till he retired in 1991. His son loved riding along with his dad either in the semi or motor home.
He was always there when we needed help no matter where or what time. He was always willing to play and hike anywhere with us. He was willing to teach you anything wanted to know.
Hamilton loved to stay busy fixing all sorts of things in his garage, making wooden toys for children, weaving hats and scarves.
Due to COVID-19, we will be having a family viewing on Monday March 30, 2020 from 10:00 ‚ 11:00 at the Larkin Mortuary located at 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84111.
After the viewing, we will travel to the Logan Cemetery at 1000 N. 1200 E, Logan, UT 84321 for Military Honors and Grave Dedication at 1:30 p.m. We have been directed to keep groups to a maximum of ten (10) or less and to also maintain 6 feet of social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
