Leona Irene Mayfield

1927 ~ 2019

Our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Leona Irene Jenkins Mayfield passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on May 8, 2019 after a short illness. She was born on October 4, 1927 in Midvale, Utah to Beatrice Osborne Jenkins and Edmund Earl Jenkins.

Grandma grew up in Midvale and went to school there before meeting grandpa. She married Thomas Albert Mayfield on June 11, 1943. They had two children Tommy and Diana. Grandma worked all of her life in the laundry business. Working for several laundries throughout the Salt Lake Valley. She retired from Vogue Laundry where she was a manager in Salt Lake City, just after grandpa passed away.

Growing up, grandma was very close to her family and loved to dance and play the violin. She loved western music and her favorite show to watch was dancing with the stars. She loved to read a good book and was very gifted creating cross stitch items and crocheting many items for her loved one's and close friends. She loved her a good word search.

Grandma traveled several times to Grand Junction to see her twin sister Erma and her family. She went to Alabama several times to see Tommy's family and took many trips to southern Utah and to the coast of Oregon with her daughter and son-in-law.

She is survived by her son Thomas Edmund Mayfield (Barbara) and daughter Diana Harding (Rick), 10 grandchildren; Barry Mayfield (Kim), Dawn Callahan (Shawn), Brenda Harding (Caroline), Misty Mayfield, Bryce Harding (Jennifer), Nathan Mayfield (Alicia), Cari Hozian (Chris), James Mayfield (Erin), Jared Mayfield (Deborah), David Mayfield (Jess), 29 great grandchildren with 1 great-great grandchild on the way. Grandma was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers Albert and Wayne, 2 sisters Erma and Edna, 3 half-brothers David, Howard and Charles Reid and 1 half-sister Stella Reid Milburn.

The family would like to thank Makal and Charlotte from Quality Hospice for their love and care of grandma during the past few months.
