Marilyn Parkin Epperson

1930 ~ 2017

Marilyn Parkin Epperson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, March 25th, 2017. She was 86.

She was born May 21st, 1930 to her parents, Lincoln and Florence Parkin in Salt Lake City. She graduated from South High School. She fell in love and married her best friend, Robert S. Epperson in the Salt Lake City Temple on April 3rd, 1952.

Marilyn was a kind, caring, and loving person. She valued the time she spent with family above all else. She married her best-friend, Robert "Bob", and spent countless hours at his side over the course of nearly 60 years. They spent every waking moment together, sharing the same hobbies and interests. When he died, so did a large part of her heart. Marilyn was a loving mother and grandmother. She talked to her children on a daily basis and shared a loving relationship with each of them through the very end. As a grandmother, she was kind, supportive, and ever present. She was at every sporting event ready to cheer you on, or there to offer a hug and support when you needed it most. Her 13 great grandchildren were fortunate to have such a loving great-grandmother in their lives.

Marilyn loved to sew and was an avid Utah Jazz and University of Utah football fan.

She was a positive person, always choosing to see the good in people and find happiness in any circumstance. This is how she came to care so deeply for the kind and loving hospice nurses, Cara and Julie, who cared for her in her final months. She adored them and they in turn adored her. She never let her illness get her down and instead enjoyed long chats with her children and continued to joke even until the end.

Marilyn will never be forgotten because she touched so many people and left a lasting imprint on their hearts and lives. While she will be greatly missed, we know she has been reunited with her love, Bob, and will live on through the minds and hearts of everyone she's touched.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Eddy Epperson; daughter Debi (Jeff) Haaga; daughter Shelley (Keith) Tippie; brother, Robert Parkin; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Lincoln and Florence; and her sister, Florence "Janeal\" Hancock.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday March 31, 2017, at Larkin Mortuary, 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton, UT 84095. Visitations will be held on Thursday March 30, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Larkin Mortuary in Riverton and also on Friday from 10:00-10:45 AM at Larkin Mortuary prior to the service.
