Earl Walter White

1926 ~ 2019

Earl Walter White died peacefully at age 92 surrounded by family on April 19, 2019. He was born on December 16, 1926 to Earl Austin White and Ferol Smart White in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Earl Lived in Union, Utah most of his life. He retired to Washington, Utah in 2001. He was a loving father. He LOVED family, friends, gardening, fishing, and the warm outdoors.

He attended Jordan High School where he excelled in football and in the words of an old friend, "he was an amazing athlete". He joined the US Navy during WWII. He served on the USS Achernar (AKA-53) and assigned in a group called the Sea-Bees in the Philippines area. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a mission in the North Central States from 1950-1952. He attended BYU and served in many church callings including as a Temple Worker in the St. George Temple. He worked and retired from Kennecott Copper Mine. He married Carlene Krause in 1956 and later divorced. Together they raised 4 daughters.

Our loving father, Earl, was known for his loving kind heart, his generosity, and constantly serving others. He welcomed strangers and opened his home to many homeless people to stay for years at a time. He shared his food and garden produce with anyone who wanted it.

He made friends easily. When he traveled, no matter how far away, he would run into someone he knew that was happy to see him. During the last year of his life, he moved to be with, and close to, his daughter Paula in Twin Falls, Idaho.

He is survived by his 4 daughters: Donna (James) Norman, Ferol White (Patrick), Jollee (John) Lloyd, and Paula (Travis) Gadsby. He has 11 Grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Earl Austin White and mother Ferol L. Smart White.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 beginning at 11:00 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) Sandy, Utah 84092. A Viewing will be held prior to services beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Murray City Cemetery, 5490 South Vine Street Murray, Utah.
