David Brian Ashton

1976 ~ 2017

Our cherished brother, son and friend David Brian Ashton, 41, unexpectedly passed away of heart related causes on the evening of July 24, 2017. David was born in San Francisco, California and raised in Orem, Utah. He spent his adult life in downtown Salt Lake City which he called home. David was nurtured by an extended family who loved him as their own. David's family and friends are numerous in nature and cannot be adequately named here. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Kathleen Eriksson Ashton and four loving grandparents. David is survived by his father Marlowe Ashton, his brothers Jon and Tom and his sister Lisa. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

David had extensive background in retail management and deeply enjoyed his experiences in film industry production/set design. He used his creative flair in all aspects of his life. He greatly valued the relationships he built with co-workers over the years. His hobbies included cooking with family and friends, music and actively participating in his community advocating the underrepresented.

David made our lives better. He was the beacon of friendship, inclusivity, and caring. He was everyone\s best friend and actually took time to listen and care about those around him.

We learned through caring coworkers that David's last minutes were not spent alone nor did he suffer.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Zion's Bank, David Ashton Memorial Fund (Account #981492374), for the settling of David's estate as well as donations in his honor to a variety of meaningful charities.

It is the family's and David's most sincere request that all who know and love him feel welcome at the non-denominational services which will be held Monday, July 31 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Visitation from 1-2 p.m., service from 2-3 p.m. and additional visitation from 3-4 p.m.
