Lowell Douglas Perkins

1920 ~ 2018

Lowell Douglas Perkins passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 25, 2018. Born at home on July 28, 1920 to George Douglas Perkins and Inez Duffin in Magna, Utah. He has one brother Nile Duffin Perkins. Lowell is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed many great associations and experiences within the Church. In his younger years, Lowell grew up in Magna, Cedar City, West Jordan, and Midvale. After middle school the family moved to 3900 south where he graduated from Granite High School in 1939. He received a Machinist Certificate from West High School Community College after graduating high school. He then worked as a Machinistat Christianson Machine Company while also helping his father in the Gaming and Juke Box business.

Lowell met his sweetheart Jeanette Elizabeth Torgerson in high school. When she graduated in 1940 they got engaged and married on August 14, 1941. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on December 10, 1964. He served his country in World War II,serving in the Navy Air Division, stationed at several air bases on the west coast. Although he did not deploy overseas he loved and was proud of his time in the Service.

Lowell and Jeanette raised 5 beautiful children. Gary Lowell, Janice Kay, Douglas Kent, Jeffrey Lynn, and Leslie Ann. The family moved to Murray, Utah when the older children were young. After the Service dad joined in the family business. They owned the Pronto Drive Inn and Restaurant on 4338 South State Street in Murray. After they closed the restaurant in the early 1960's Lowellopened and operated Pronto and Terrace Catering Inc. He served thousands of parties in the Salt Lake area for the next 22 years until he retired in 1985.He also enjoyed serving in his community and was a member of the Murray Lions Club.

Lowell and Jeanette enjoyed traveling in their retired years. They took two extensive trips to the US eastern coast and spent many years wintering in Oceanside, California near the beach, which they both loved. Their family also would visit them and had many good times inOceanside. Lowell and Jeanette love their children and generations of grandchildren. Many family trips were taken to Moon Lake and Flaming Gorge to have fun camping and being together. "Gramps", affectionately called by his grandchildren, loved his grandchildren and they loved him! After Jeanette's passing,his children and grandchildren lovingly cared for gramps. They were the light of his life. Later in life Lowell found Kay McClellan, they became good friends and married. They resided in Murray until Lowell's passing.

He is survived by, wife Kay, son Doug, daughters Janice (Lynn) Billeter, and Leslie (Rick) Mickelson, 10 wonderful grandchildren, 18, great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 step-children, and 4 step-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by, his wife Jeanette, sons Gary and Jeffrey. His grandson Sean, and great-granddaughter McKell

The family wishes to thank Aspen Ridge Home Health and Hospice for their kind and loving care of Lowell in the final weeks of his life. Thank you Sonya, Jeanette, Dr. Workman, Ronda, Angie, and Warren for your love for Lowell and your acts of service for him. We would also like to thank Dr. Douglas Romney for his years of caring as Lowell's primary care physician.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:00 am with a viewing from 9:00 ‚ 10:45 am at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, 1950 east 10600 south, Sandy, Utah. Interment will follow at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
