Justin Bevan Chamberlain, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014 after a brief illness.
He was born May 5, 1927 in Kanab, Utah to Justin and Helen Mar Bunker Chamberlain. He married Norma Ence on September 1, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had 47 wonderful years of marriage. Bevan and Norma loved their five children. As a family they loved to work together, play together, and live life to its fullest. After her death on January 5, 1997, he met and fell in love with Betty Smith. They were married on July 1, 1997 in the Jordan River LDS Temple. They enjoyed "200 months" of hard work and exciting adventures. When Betty and her two children joined our eternal family the fun, closeness and unity continued. Bevan and Betty served three LDS missions together.
He was a faithful member of the LDS Church. He devoted his entire life to serving others. His callings included bishop, high counselor, counselor in the bishopric and stake presidency, and temple ordinance worker for 18 years. He always said his favorite calling was explorer advisor.
He had a very successful career building custom homes. He always shared his talents by building family cabins and helping his children build or improve their own homes. He loved the outdoors, especially his horses. He loved spending time with his family in any activity, including hiking, camping, boating and snowmobiling. He served his country in the United States Navy.
Survived his wife, Betty; children: Carol (Dennis) Wilkinson, Sandy; Janet (Stuart) Wilkinson, Logan; Mark (Karen) Chamberlain, South Jordan; Gail (Ted) Hanson, Riverton; Julie (Mike) Clayson, Springville; Karissa (Shaun) Shields, American Fork; F. Larry Smith, Cottonwood Heights; 29 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 3 more on the way. He is also survived by two sisters, Helen Mar Pugh, Salt Lake City and Mary Lou (Pat) McAllister, Hatch. Preceded in death by wife, Norma; father, Justin; mother, Helen; sister, Reuvo; brother, S. Burt; and great granddaughter, Emma.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Salt Lake Grant Stake Center, 3153 South 900 East. Friends may call Sunday evening, 5-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, and Monday at the church from 9:30‚10:45 a.m. Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
