James Russell Terry

1929 ~ 2017

James Russell Terry, 88, passed away on June 2, 2017. Jim was born on May 9th, 1929 to Marion Stout Terry and Annie Ruth Redington Terry in Pocatello, Idaho.

Jim lived in many parts of Idaho while growing up, including McKay, Jerome, American Falls and Pocatello. He really enjoyed his time and activity in the Boy Scouts of America program and maintained a love for scouting and the outdoors throughout his life.

In 1951, he was drafted into the US Army and served in the Korean War, spending much of his time in Japan. When he returned home he continued courting his sweetheart, Ann Etta Jensen, and they were married in the Idaho Falls Temple in June of 1953. Jim and Ann Etta spent their life together in the Rose Park area of Salt Lake City.

Jim worked as a truck driver for Kelly Company, and later as a building custodian for the LDS Church.

Throughout his life he enjoyed: reading, fishing, listening to music and knitting caps and scarves for his family and friends.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and enjoyed serving in callings such as: High Priest Group Secretary and Leader, Ward Clerk, Scout Master, Sunday School Teacher and as a Stake Missionary. He also loved the time he spent working at the Recommend Desk in the Salt Lake Temple.

Jim is survived by his wife, Ann Etta; children, Curtis (Dora), Mark (Heidi), and Gaylene (Dan); as well as 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 9th at 11:00a.m. in the Rose Park North Stake Center, 1100 N. 1200 W. in Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held 90 minutes prior to the services. Interment will be at the Memorial Estates Cemetery, 6500 S. Redwood Road.
