Judith Anne \"Judi\" Christopherson

1945 ~ 2015

Judith Anne (\"Judi\") Jones Christopherson passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, November 21, 2015 surrounded by family.

Judi was born on May 18, 1945 in New York, New York to Carter and Betty Jones. Even as a child she was outgoing, unafraid to speak her mind, and impossible to ignore. Judi\s personality, like her red hair, was electric. There was rarely a dull moment when in her company: \"human log rolls,\" spontaneous testimony meetings, and \"let\s all share our most embarrassing moment!\" sessions were some of her go-to moves. Judi was someone you just wanted to be around.

Judi inherited her mother\s passion and talent for music. She directed countless youth and adult choirs and wrote and directed award-winning musical pageants and roadshows. She had a beautiful singing voice and was called on regularly to perform during church services and other occasions. She may be best remembered by family and friends for her immense talent as a poet, lyricist and rapper (who remembers the \"Philo T. Farnsworth Rap\" performed in conjunction with his statue\s unveiling in the National Statuary Hall in 1990?).

Judi graduated from University of Utah in 1967 with a bachelor\s degree in Speech and later earned her master\s degree. Judi related especially well to teenagers and spent most of her career, spanning nearly 40 years, teaching middle school English. Judi\s creative, unorthodox and slightly irreverent teaching style left a memorable impression on her students.

Judi was an incredibly loving and supportive wife and mother. She was deeply empathetic, especially toward her four children. Judi was a faithful member of the LDS Church and was never shy about sharing her testimony of the gospel with those around her. She was preceded in death just five months earlier by her husband of nearly 49 years, Dennis, and was clearly anxious to reunite with him.

Judith is survived by her four children, Katie Erickson (Daniel), Michael (Kristina), Douglas (Jenica), Scott (Whitney), her 11 grandchildren, and her brother Carter Jones Jr. (Kathleen).

A viewing will be held Friday evening, November 27, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy, Utah. The funeral will take place on Saturday, November 28 at 11 a.m. (with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.), at the LDS Granite Ward, 9245 S. Quail Run Drive, Sandy, Utah.
