Karen Carling Kelly

1950 ~ 2013

Karen passed away in her sleep after a long battle with ALS.

Karen was born in Buffalo New York. Lived in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Miami, Boston and finally settling in Atlanta, Georgia for many years. Karen loved to travel and began her world adventures at an early age. In 1976 she became a flight attendant for Delta Airlines, and especially enjoyed her years of flying to Germany as Language Destination Speaker. Karen graduated from Emory Law School and after retiring from flying became an Aviation Attorney. For the last eight years she was a dedicated triathlete. Running Ironman in Brazil, South Africa and Kona. A diligent and tireless fundraiser for ALS. Karen fell in love with Kona and finally moved there in 2012. That was short lived when she was diagnosed with ALS Aug. 4, 2012. She fought a very courageous battle against a very wicked disease. She did so with grace and intelligence and always a sense of humor. Now she has Freedom!! RIP Karen. Survived by her father Don (Carole), brother, David (Bobbie), Daughter Christine, Soul Mate Gary.

A celebration of Karen's life will be held in Kailua Kona Hawaii with her ashes being spread into the ocean.
