Gerhard Guenther Schwarz age 93 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.
Gerhard was born on December 1, 1920 in Koenigsberg, Germany . After World War II he started a new life in Flensburg, Germany. Here he became active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This is also where he met and married the love of his life, Gisela Bentke, in 1948. In 1950 his daughter was born. In 1952, Gerhard and his family left Germany and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. This is where he happily spent the remainder of his life. In 1959 his son was born. One of the greatest joys of his life was being a temple worker for 22 years. He also enjoyed his family and traveling with his sweetheart after his retirement.
Gerhard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gisela. He leaves behind his two children Barbara and Gary, their spouses, Earl and Gwen, and his one grandson Jason. We will all miss his kind and gentle spirit.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 11:45 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 South), Sandy, Utah with a viewing from 10:45 - 11:30 prior to the service.
