DeLoy C. Densley

1929 ~ 2014

DeLoy C. Densley 84, passed peacefully away March 2, 2014 following a several year battle with Dementia/Alzheimer's disease. He passed as many of his family lovingly looked on. Born to Claude Bodell Densley and Viola Bauman Densley April 11, 1929. DeLoy enjoyed a rich and rewarding life. He was educated at Jordan High School and attended the University of Utah. He served honorably and with distinction in the Korean conflict. He was decorated with the Korean Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars and also received the United Nations Service Medal. Upon his return from the military he married Louise Poor over 60 years ago in the Salt Lake Temple. He and Louise loved to dance, and that was an important part of their courtship and their entire lives. DeLoy was a father in every way to four grateful children who love, admire and respect him for a life lived in honesty, service and integrity. Early in his marriage he worked for Kennecott Copper Mines. After several years he felt his dreams could better be realized in sales. He was a principle broker and loved working in real estate. DeLoy loved the out of doors. Hunting and fishing were his great past times, of which his trips to Alaska he considered his most enjoyable escape. DeLoy served in many positions in the LDS church and his heart was with the youth ‚ building character and testimony. DeLoy will be remembered for his generous heart and the plentiful service he gave. The highlight of his service was serving two church missions with his beautiful wife: a proselyting mission to Macon, Georgia and a Church Service Mission to Nauvoo, Illinois. He also served in the temple. During his mission in Nauvoo he suffered his first of many strokes, causing significant brain damage. His health was further compromised by Alzheimer's disease. His wife, Louise, was his primary care giver until her passing in April of 2013. The family expresses thanks and gratitude for the friendship, love and care DeLoy received from the staff at Carrington Court and Brighton Hospice. They facilitated the transition for him with dignity, kindness and concern. He is survived by his children Kip (Shelli), Bif (Karen), Dix (Jane) and JaNan Himmer (Dale), 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and his siblings Glen (Margo) Densley, Barbara Loertscher, Jean Farnsworth and Bonnie (Grant) Schow. The Love of his life, Louise preceded him in death by ten months. He is also preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Truby Draper and Claudette Price and his brother, Gary.

He has left a legacy of love, service, honesty, integrity and testimony to his posterity reminding each of us, we needn't look too far to see a bit of heaven. Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa, brother, uncle and friend, however you know him, let us join together and say goodbye, for a time, to a great man. We certainly mourn momentarily at his passing; yet we are thrilled at the prospect that he is free once again to use his mind and to be with his sweetheart ‚ Louise.
