Nancy Jane Berg

1941 ~ 2020

Nancy Jane Berg, our mother, grandmother great-grandmother, and friend, passed away March 2, 2020 in Provo, Utah. Nancy, known as Jane to her family, was born July 26, 1941 in Heber City, Utah to Alfred Earl Smith and Sarah Emeline Lee. Nancy lived in Heber City in her early life and then in Riverton, Utah where she graduated from Bingham High School. Nancy met Richard Berg in April of 1957, and they were married October 19, 1961 and later divorced.

Nancy was an employee of Jordan School District where she worked in their administration building for several years. She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held a number of callings within the church. Nancy loved her family and family gatherings. Holiday get-togethers were very important to her. She held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and would speak of them endlessly. She always had a comforting thought or a unique perspective to offer her children and grandchildren. She will be sorely missed.

She enjoyed gardening, going to the Hale Theatre with her friends and watching JAZZ games; she was an avid JAZZ fan. She also enjoyed family vacations and traveling the world.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Alfred Earl Smith and Sarah Emeline Lee and her stepmother Lorena Madsen Smith. She is survived by her children Todd (Stacey), Michelle Duffin, Natalie Salisbury, and Jason Berg, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Utah Valley Regional Hospital for their kindness and care they gave to their mom.
