Anna Mae Anderson

1920 ~ 2015

Anna Mae Anderson passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2015 with loving family members beside her. The day was coincidental, in that it was the same date her father passed away on, forty years ago, also being on Sunday, which is the name of her mother.

Anna Mae was born in Salt Lake City, Utah February 10, 1920 to Virgil E. and Sunday Cardall Anderson. She attended Franklin Elementary, Jordan Jr. High and graduated from West High School. While in High School, she concentrated on secretarial skills, preparing herself for employment after graduation.

She excelled in all that she worked towards, landing her first "job" working for the Rose Printing Company of Salt Lake. She enjoyed her first "working" experience there, but wanted to have other experiences to expand her working proficiency.

She got that opportunity in 1940 when she accepted a "temporary" job working for the State of Utah, starting in the Liquor Commission Office, selling liquor permits (licenses). Because of her outstanding work ethic and her very personal rapport with the public, she quickly moved over to the Motor Division of Utah State Tax Commission, then on to the Driver's Division, her "temporary" position with the State lasted until August of 1983; 44 years of serving under five of Utah's finest Governor's. During that time she issued licenses to Herbert Maw, George Clyde, J. Bracken Lee, Calvin Rampton and Scott Matheson.

Anna Mae is survived by her baby sister Nancy Shingleton, who cared for her the past few years; her brother Richard (Darlene) Anderson and many nieces and nephews who love her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Lyla Marie Anderson and Virginia Mollerup and brother Gerald "Jerry" Anderson.

Funeral services for Anna Mae will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 12:00 noon, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, with a viewing Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
