Parnell Bruce Powell passed away quietly Friday evening at the age of 90, in his home on July 19, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones.
Parnell was born in Coalville, Summit Co., Utah, June 23, 1929 to Parley A. Powell and Olive Mary Cox. He was a twin and the youngest child of ten. He was raised on a farm and learned the value of hard work at an early age. When the family moved to Salt Lake City, he graduated from South High School. He married Violet Rachel Bowen Jan. 25, 1958 and was later sealed to her and their children in the Salt Lake Temple on Aug. 7, 1968. He was proceeded in death by his parents and all his brothers and sisters, including two sons, Terry Powell and Stephen Powell. He is survived by his sweet wife Violet, and children, S. John Powell (Connie), Lee Powell (Sheila), daughter-in-law Karin Powell (Terry), Kevin Powell (Kelley), and Bruce Powell. He's been blessed with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Parnell enjoyed dancing, singing, bowling, water skiing, and basketball. He also enjoyed camping in RV's and owned and operated a small RV company in Midvale, Utah.
Services will be held Friday July 26th at the Taylorsville 3rd Ward, 1457 W. Atherton Dr., Taylorsville, Utah. A viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m and funeral services will start at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy, Utah.
