Fay H. Geary

1923 ~ 2018

Fay Hadfield Geary, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died peacefully at the home of her daughter in Tucson, Arizona December 18, 2018, at the age of 95.

She was born January 3, 1923 in Riverside, UT to Job Oliver and Mabel Olivia Smith Hadfield. Fay graduated from Bear River High School. She then attended the Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, UT before attending the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. Fay worked for the Coca Cola Company in Salt Lake City as a secretary. While employed there Fay met her husband Bruce and they were married on May 18, 1946 in the Salt Lake temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Fay then went to work for Universal CIT Corp. and then for Auerbach Department Stores in Salt Lake City. In 1966 Fay went to work for the Salt Lake City School District working at East High School. She worked as an aide for two years and then took the job of registrar for East High and continued to fill that position until her retirement in 1993.

Fay served in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints including Sunday School and Primary teacher, Counselor in the ward Primary Presidency, Stake Primary Board Member; Blazer Scout leader, Relief Society President, Junior Sunday School Coordinator, and served as Visiting Teaching Coordinator for 12 years.

Fay was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Bruce Geary; her parents, Job and Mabel Hadfield; her sister Arlene Reveal of Riverside, UT; her brother Ross Hadfield of Meridian, ID; her sister Doris Roche of Riverside, UT; and a granddaughter Jamie Lynn Gilbert. Fay is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Latham of Battleground, WA, Catherine (John) Gilbert of Tooele, UT. and Debra (Michael) Kamrowski of Tucson, AZ. As well as 16 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Perpetual Education fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Funeral services will be held January 4, 2018 at 11 am at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple. There will be a viewing on January 3, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City and one, one hour prior the funeral service. Burial will be at the South Morgan Cemetery in Morgan, UT.
