John Hopkins

1920 ~ 2014

John Hopkins, age 94, passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2014. John was born April 24, 1920 in St. George, Utah, the son of Ezekiel and Rhoda Homer Hopkins. He married Vivia Mae Rasmusson September 1, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple.

John served in the Army Air Corp as an airplane mechanic instructor, served an LDS mission in the Southern States mission, and was college educated. He was employed as a meat cutter and inspector, was active in the LDS Church and loved serving for many years as a Temple worker. He believed "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God."

John is survived by his children Ron and Janet Hopkins; David and Kelly Hopkins, Brian and Kathy Ingersoll; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; wife Vivia; son John Jr.; brothers Mark and Robert; sisters Louisa Dewey, Melisa Earl and Elvina Thompson; and great-granddaughter Livi Frazier.

The family would like to thank Millcreek Hospice, and a special thanks to Lisa, Dina, Rosa, Debbie and others for their caring, gentle hands. Heartfelt appreciation to Sophia, a granddaughter, for her loving care of grandpa.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 6, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at the Mountain View 3rd Ward, 1889 South 1700 East, where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
