Ida Christine Bukke

1926 ~ 2017

Ida Christine Wohlert Nielsen Bukke was born on October 8, 1926, in Aarhus, Denmark, to Laurits and Anna Wohlert Nielsen. She passed away peacefully on April 22, 2017, in the home of her daughter, surrounded by family.

She was raised in a family of 13 and enjoyed competing in the Danish Swimming Club, winning a silver and a bronze medal. Ida and her sister Grethe immigrated to the United States in 1948. She loved her new country but was always proud of her Danish heritage. Ida took pride in working for the Royal Family in Copenhagen and at ZCMI in Salt Lake City.

Soon after arriving in Utah, Ida met and fell in love with Arno Bukke. Ida and Arno had over 45 years of cherished memories together: vacationing at Bear Lake and St. George, boating, camping, bowling, golfing, square dancing, and enjoying the company of one another. She was a wonderful cook and everyone loved her Danish cookies. Arno passed away in 1997, and Ida missed her best friend and partner in life everyday.

Ida and Arno added Ray, Brenda, and Linda to their family. At the age of three, Ray returned to heaven. Ida was a wonderful and loving mother to Brenda and Linda, and they created wonderful memories as a family. Ida also had a special place in her heart for each of her four grandchildren: Erik and Arno Coppa and Lindsay and Sarah Frederickson. They will miss their close relationships with their Mor Mor.

Ida is preceded in death by her beloved husband Arno; son, Ray; parents; and ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by Brenda (Robert) Coppa, Linda (Dave) Frederickson, Lindsay, Sarah, Erik, and Arno.
