William Evans Garbett, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed away peacefully in his sleep Wednesday October 15, 2014 at his home in Salt Lake City. He was born January 4, 1926 in Laramie, Wyoming. Bill married JoanAngeline Woods in the Salt Lake Temple April 11, 1949. He received his undergraduatedegree from and played varsity basketball as the starting center for San Diego State University. He earned a masters degree in retailing from the University of Pittsburgh. Bill enjoyed business, tennis, basketball, fly fishing, golf, real estate, reading,Yellowstone Park and service to his church and his family.
Hissurviving children include Timothy, John, Mary (McBride), James, andSarah (Memmott) along withBrigham, his beloved cat. He was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.Joan and his youngest son Peter Hugo Garbett preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at Larkin Mortuary,260 East South Temple,Salt Lake City, where a viewing will be held from 9:30 am to 10:45 am.Interment to followat 12:30 PM in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Dr.
