Nancy Lou Stuart Carlston

1939 ~ 2015

Nancy Lou Stuart Carlston, our adored wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2015.

She was born on February 4, 1939 to Don William Stuart and Thelma Rose Berg in Fillmore, Utah. Married Leon James Carlston on August 17, 1956, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized on November 5, 1981 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Nancy dedicated her life to caring for her family, she was very close to her husband, children, grandchildren and her three sisters. Mom was a woman of many talents. Many wonderful memories surround many us as she shared her amazing talent of painting and giving of those beautiful paintings. She received the honor of the title of Professional Artist by the Intermountain Society of Artists. Mom was a very talented seamstress and much of her clothing she designed and sewed herself, along with her accessories. Mom was an avid outdoorswoman and enjoyed traveling with her sweetheart, family and friends. Many of their travels were to family reunions where they would in later years spend time gathering family history, which leaves us with an amazing family history from 1836 - 2015. Mom was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held and enjoyed numerous callings such as Stake Young Womens Camp Director, mutual teacher, scout leader, ward librarian, visiting teacher and many others that she volunteered to do. She was the secretary for the area Rotary Club and became a world traveler with them. Mom and Dad enjoyed the opportunity to serve others, especially when they went with friends to an Indian reservation. Mom was always actively engaged in family businesses and trusts, she was good at business and with people. Mom worked outside the home as an elementary school librarian for the Granite School District, and cleaning new homes to name a few. Mom was never idle, EVER!!! MOM IS GREATLY MISSED BY ALL WHO KNOW AND LOVE HER !!!

She leaves behind her sweet husband Leon, sons Marvin (Sherell) Carlston, Ron (Peggy) Carlston, daughter Janet Carlston (Almstedt) and Randy Evans, 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sisters Norma (Richard) Graham, Dona Childs, Vicki (Carl) Potter, and many dearly loved family members and close friends.

Mom is preceded in death by her dear parents, parents-in-law, daughter, grandson Dominic, brother-in-laws Bob Childs, Kenny Hanson, Reed Brace, nephews Jimmy Brace, Dale Carlston, Wayne Brace, many more dearly loved family members and close friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Brookshire Ward Chapel, 3487 South 1300 East, Salt Lake City, UT. A visitation will be held from 9 - 10 am prior to the services at the church.
