Richard Hugh Finnerty

1935 ~ 2018

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather passed away on October 3, 2018. His love and dedication to his family was his first priority in life. He worked his whole life to try to provide the very best for them. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 35 years. After retiring he opened a hatchery, "Sure Chick". He and his wife, children and grandchildren ran the business. Earlier in his life he trained Labrador Retrievers and also provided the ducks for the Labrador Retriever Club for many years. He was an avid hunter and trapper his whole life. The duck, goose and pheasant hunts he did with his children, grandchildren and friends will never be forgotten. His braiding skills with leather were impeccable. He was a cancer survivor for 18 years. He was the strongest man we ever knew. He never gave up. His wife Janette was the love of his life and passed away only 5 weeks earlier. They were a true love story of two people who couldn't live without each other. He is now with "His Girl" and son Daniel. Richard and Janette's daughters, Carrie and Christine were there for their every need and gave them the love that they deserved. Together they had 6 children, Richard (Laurie), Michael C (Brenda), Daniel M, Vickie (Tom) Rivetti, Christine (Paul) Harman, Carrie (Keith) Gafa. They had 26 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Our dad will forever be missed for his dry sense of humor and crazy stories.
