Paul Adam Bartlome

Paul Adam Bartlome was born December 12, 1983, the middle son to Mike and Kari Bartlome, in Salt Lake City, Utah.He passed away in his sleep on June 5, 2014 in Dunellen, New Jersey.

Anyone who became friends with Paul was a friend for life, benefitting from his quick smile, ability to listen and give advice without judgment, and his penchant for mischief. We loved spending time with him outdoors, doing anything from snowmobiling to snowboarding, skiing, four-wheeling, camping or even just getting lost and ending up somewhere completely unexpected "just because."When he had to be indoors, he was a platform diver, hockey player, and an avid video gamer or gambler with unprecedented luck and baffling skill. His strength and courage in dealing with whatever came his way made him our hero and his never-ending humor made him our beloved friend.

Paul was close with his family and his brothers were two of his favorite people to harass and be harassed by.He gained a few more brothers in the men he served proudly alongside as a Recon Marine in 3rd Recon Battalion. He met his wife, Leah, in Washington D.C. and they made their life together in Dunellen, New Jersey, following their marriage on April 13, 2013 in Summit, New Jersey.

He was one of those special guys who made friends in unlikely places. Whether you knew him from the neighborhood in South Jordan, Utah where he grew up, his time at the University of Utah, the Marines, or after he moved to New Jersey and continued his education in nursing, the way Paul found common ground with anyone was nothing short of a gift.He cared about each person in his own way and it showed.

He is survived by his wife, Leah; his parents, Mike and Kari Bartlome; brothers, Alan (Jannda) and Kyle (Abbie); beloved nephew, Mason, and niece, Claire; in-laws, David and Mary Glasofer; sister-in-law, Ricki Glasofer; lifelong friends Carl Cox, David Hunt, and Brad Baird. There are so many other brothers, friends, teammates, buddies, and people who were touched by his infectious presence we could never possibly list them all.

Formal services will be held through Costello-Runyon in Metuchen, New Jersey on Tuesday, June 10.A viewing and open house will be held Thursday, June 12 from 6 pm until 9 pm at Larkin Mortuary Riverton, 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton, Utah. There will be no public graveside service. In lieu of flowers, family will be accepting contributions toward a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project in Paul's name.
