Joan Maxwell May passed away peacefully on January 16, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
Joan was born on February 11, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Robert Maxwell and Janet Gillespie Maxwell. Joan graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City. She married Richard Dale May, January 31, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah and together they raised four wonderful children. She worked at various places, including the Yellowstone National Park Lodge, Gold Strike Stamp, University of Utah, and retired from the University of Utah accounting department.
Joan loved to travel, read, garden, do crossword puzzles, and to spend time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, two older brothers, Robert and Richard Maxwell, two older sisters, Maxine Curtis and Marian Parkin. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard May, and four children, son Randy May (Vicki), and daughters Kim McGregor (Fred), Kelly Young and Tami Casper (John Dunham), 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sisters Shirley Boldt and Arlene Hymas, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Joan's life will be held from 2:00 ‚ 4:00 pm, Saturday, January 23, 2016 at The Chateau at The Rose Shop. Address: 1910 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) Sandy, Utah.
