Bette was born in Salt Lake City, UT on October 28, 1946 to Thomas H. and Ruth Briggs Pettet. She passed away at St. Mark's hospital on January 23, 2016 due to complications from diabetes and other health issues.
Bette graduated from Highland High School in 1965 and later married Thomas "Gene" Reid on June 18, 1988. They were solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on September 14, 1993. Together they enjoyed 30 wonderful years. She worked for many years at Apache Party Sales (Tupperware) in their warehouse, where she made many longtime friends and worked as a mail clerk for the insurance industry before her retirement.
Bette bowled on several leagues. She enjoyed making ceramics and was a professional cake decorator, creating both birthday and wedding cakes for many friends and family. She faithfully served many church callings. Bette was dearly loved by her family, ward family and friends, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband Gene Reid, children Lindy (Darryl) Mahnke, Cyndi (Terry) Stock, John (Deb) Reid, Andru (Carol) Reid, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, sisters Merle (Joe) Tilmant, Marlene Oliver and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Ladon Pettet and aunts and uncles.
Services will be held on Saturday January 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Crystal Heights 1st ward 1970 East Stratford Ave. (2560 South). A visitation will take place on Friday January 29 from 6:00 ‚ 8:00 pm at Larkin Mortuary at 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City and from 10:00 am-10:45 am at the ward.
