Lyle Henry Davis

1933 ~ 2014

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Lyle Henry Davis, passed away on May 26, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.

Lyle was born on August 9, 1933 in Power Montana to Lyle E. and Emma Kind Davis. He had five siblings; Mildred, Lark, Beverly, Ressa, and Sherry. He graduated from Power High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956 as a Radioman on the B-29 Bomber. Lyle married his "babe", Wanda Wolcott Davis, on May 25, 1956 in Billings, Montana. She was drawn to his big brown eyes that wouldn't stop, along with his unforgettable smile. Lyle passed minutes after their 58th wedding anniversary.

Together he and Wanda had three children; Gregg (Jeanne) Davis, Ardell (William J.) Carroll, and Diane (Doug) Canada. He had six grandchildren; Melissa (Dexter) Hoopes, Danielle (Brian) Herrscher, Elliott, Rachelle, David and Crystal Canada. He also had eight great-grandchildren who were the light of his life; Samantha, Brooklyn, Caden, Hadley, Braxton, Ava, Tatum and Emmett, which he lovingly referred to as the "Great Eight."

First and foremost, Poppy deeply and passionately loved his family. They brought him much joy and he was incredibly proud and spoke often of their accomplishments. Lyle worked as an Air Traffic Controller with the FAA for over 30 years where he received a Letter of Recognition from the Governor of Montana for outstanding performance. Lyle loved the great outdoors, especially the Kind Family Reunion in Montana, which held a piece of his heart. He regularly attended the gym, or as he called it "the george." He hungered for adventure and had a keen sense of humor that was unpredictable. He also reveled in political discussions and was a true blue Democrat.

With sincere appreciation our family thanks Mary Ellen Hardman and Kate Wilson for their love and support.

We know this is not goodbye; you will forever live in our hearts. We love and miss you so much Poppy!

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the Chateau at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) , Sandy.
