Elaine W. Johnson

1930 ~ 2018

Elaine W. Johnson (never say the "W" word—Wilma—unless you want to get smacked!) was called to Heaven to spend time with her mom (Alice), son (Rick Sr.), grandsons (Jesse Ray and Rick Jr.), and siblings (Don and Viola) after living with dementia for many years.

Elaine and Red (Kenneth Johnson) were married for 25 years before divorcing, but they remained friends throughout life until Red's passing. Elaine was a dedicated and loving mom to her five children; Richard Lane (Patricia), Kathleen Rivera (Jesse), Kenneth Johnson, Diana Bowcutt (Mike), and Shelly Williams. Elaine had several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many, many dear friends.

Elaine passed away peacefully in her Murray home surrounded by her family, including her faithful dog, Daisy. Elaine built a wonderful life for herself and her family by furthering her education and being hard-working and persistent. You could show up to Elaine's home anytime, day or night, and she'd welcome you with a cup of coffee and plenty to eat. Elaine knew just what to say and what to do to make people feel loved. No matter how tiny the budget, Elaine could make any holiday magical.

Elaine will be cremated per her wishes, and laid to rest on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Salt Lake City Cemetery in a small graveside service. Please drop in to celebrate her life that afternoon from 2-4 at Elaine's home in Winchester Estates in Murray at 6478 South 1090 West. Thank you to Silverado Care and Hospice for their help over the last few weeks, and to granddaughters Jessie Joy Meza and Shelby Draper for caring for Elaine in her home throughout the last year.
