Craig Nelson Burton

1959 ~ 2018

Craig Nelson Burton died on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at age 59 after battling Pancreatic Cancer since his diagnosis in March of this year. Craig was born on September 8, 1959 to Marvin Hanson Burton and Lela Nelson Burton in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the youngest of six children. He was married on June 6, 1981 to Jill Ann Jensen in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple and together they had two children, Travis and Crystal. They were married for twenty-three years.

Craig was a dedicated employee at Granite School District for more than thirty years. Most of that time was spent at Cottonwood High School where he worked diligently as a wonderful provider for his family.

Craig enjoyed spending his time with his two children and his beloved long-time girlfriend, Miriam Martinez. Some of his favorite past-times included cooking, going shooting, "garage sale-ing," and going to the movies. He was also an excellent carpenter and an all-around handyman.

Those who knew and loved him will dearly miss his quick smile, fun sense of humor, and generous and loyal heart. He was both strong of body and of spirit and the world will be an emptier place without him.

Craig is survived by: Crystal Burton (daughter), Travis and Cherie Burton (son and daughter-in-law), Miriam Martinez (girlfriend), Jill Burton (first wife and mother of Crystal and Travis), Bary Burton (brother), Claudia Burton Dorius (sister), Bobbi Burton (sister), as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Craig is preceded in death by: Marv Burton (father), Lela Burton (mother), Lynn Burton (brother), and Rex Burton (brother).

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 E Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, UT 84092). A viewing will take place directly prior to the funeral beginning at 12:30 PM. Interment will take place directly following the services.

Dad, words cannot adequately express the depths of our grief at your passing but know that you will live forever in our memories and in our hearts.
