Edith Bons McKendrick age 86, passed away February 21, 2016 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
She was born on March 5, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Pieter and Marie VanZomeren Bons. She spent her childhood on the Avenues in Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School. Although she was an accomplished pianist and artist she took great pride in being a "people person." In addition, she loved the outdoors, whether it be the red rocks of Moab or the mountains of the Wasatch range. Most of all, however, she loved her animals ‚ all of them.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne (Paul) Donnolo and her brother Paul (Kitty) Bons and is preceded in death by her husband, David McKendrick and her mother and father.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Bella Angel Resident Care in Coeur d'Alene, ID for their sensitive concern during the last days of her life.
Per her wishes there will be no funeral services but there will be a celebration of her life for friends and acquaintances from 6:00-8:00 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2016 (her birthday) at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple in Salt Lake City.
In lieu of flowers, she has requested that donations be made to the Utah Animal Shelter, Best Friends Animal Society, Humane Society of Utah, or PetSmart Charities in her name.
