Launa Lee Stowell

1951 ~ 2015

A loving mother, daughter, sister and friend to all has returned to that God which gave us life. First of five children born to Paul and Lorelie Stowell. Launie took her first trip from Driggs Idaho where she was born to New Haven, CT where she lived for the first four years of her life while her father attended medical school. She moved from her first home to SLC where she lived with her two new siblings and parents. Launie moved to Logan in 1958, where she grew up, attended Logan High School and later USU with an emphasis on fashion design. Early on, Launie was enthralled with young children and tended them for others as often as she was able. Launie married Kevin Jensen in 1973, later divorced. They had three sons; Erik, Mike and David. Launie raised her boys in the Monument Park 11th ward. Since 2011, Launie has lived in an assisted living center, the Coventry, located in Cottonwood Heights. Launie loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Her three boys meant the world to her and she loved to dote upon her five grandchildren.

Chronic illnesses such as Scleroderma were a particular trying aspect of her life but despite her challenges and struggle to maintain her health, Launie was ever concerned with the well-being of those around her. She was a beautiful example of our Savior's love. Launie is survived by her parents and sons (along with daughter-in-law Meisha); her brothers, David (Janet) and Doug (Tana); and her sisters Shellie Christensen (Jim) and Marci Hunsaker (Eric).
