Riley Eugene Hess III

1959 ~ 2017

Riley Eugene Hess III (Lee) passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2017. Lee was born to Gene and Claudia Hess on June 21st, 1959 in Salt Lake City, Utah where he was raised in the Avenues with his three sisters Debbie (Chris) Bennett, Brenda (Gary) Treadway and Merrilee (Mike) White.

He met and married the love of his life, Nancy Fontana Hess on January 9th, 1981. They were married for 36 wonderful years. His sons Casey and Eli, and his daughter Mindy will greatly miss him. His three grandsons Noah, Kannon and Channing were the light of his life, and will miss him more than anything in this world.

Lee was employed with Varian for many years before he retired, and started a new career with Ultradent where he then retired in 2013 to stay home and become the fulltime Grandpa he always dreamt to be.

From playing hockey and golf, to watching his Greenbay Packers and Utes, Lee enjoyed sports! Especially watching his grandson's football games. He was always on the sideline with his camera capturing every moment.

When not completely engaged in sports, Lee loved to enter his 1950 Jeepster into different car shows. One of his favorite car shows was the Kruisin' for Kids Classic Car Show hosted by Shriners Children's Hospital. We ask that in lieu of flowers, please contribute to their efforts.

Lee is proceeded in death by his father Gene and nephew Robert. He was our entire world and we'll miss his dad jokes, and shoulder taps. Rest easy, pops.

Visitation services will be held at Larkin Mortuary on 260 E. South Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by graveside servicesat the Salt Lake City Cemetery on 200 N Street at 1:00 PM.
