Gilbert Warner

1930 ~ 2015

Gilbert Warner (Gil), beloved husband, father of 5, and grandfather of 24 passed away November 18, 2015, at the age of 85.

Born October 22, 1930 to Jewish parents, Robert Lewis (Voronov) Warner and Rose Louise Dressler, in Los Angeles, California.

Attended Fairfax High and graduated from Harbor College majoring in petroleum engineering. Enrolled at UCLA, but after withdrawal from the US Naval Reserve, was immediately drafted in the US Army and served 16 months in Korea. Upon return, joined in a business with his brother, Jim.

Married Katherine (Kaye) Kendrick on March 14, 1964. In 1967 in Woodland Hills, CA was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and in 1968 their marriage was sealed in the Los Angeles temple. Moved to Salt Lake City in 1973. Spent most of his professional career as a commercial builder of many churches and stake centers across the Wasatch Front.

Gil loved the church and the Savior and served in many callings including: Elder's Quorum President, Teacher, High Councilor, and Bishop of the Monument Park 8th Ward. He served three missions with his wife Kaye in the Virginia Richmond Mission (served as 1st councilor to President Feller), San Diego Mormon Battalion Visitor's Center, and South Carolina, Columbia. Also served three humanitarian service missions: Utah State Prison, Family History Library, and the Employment Center at Welfare Square, and as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple.

Devoted husband and father of five children, Tracey (Eric) Tonks, Adam (Raeann), Cristopher (Tamara), Pamela (John) Barrett, Scott (Cassie), 24 amazing, beautiful grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and brother. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Utah State Veteran's Nursing Home for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11am at the Foothill Stake Center, 1933 S 2100 E, Salt Lake City. Viewings will be held Friday evening from 6-8pm at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E 1300 S, Salt Lake City, and Saturday from 9-10:30am prior to services at the Stake Center.
