Wanda Mason Lloyd

1918 ~ 2016

Wanda Mason Lloyd, beloved daughter, mother, and grandmother, died peacefully on February 8, 2016 from complications of a stroke that happened September 10, 2014. She was born to Royal Lional Mason and Kate Diantha Johnson on August 15, 1918, in Plymouth, Utah.

Wanda grew up on a farm and learned the value of hard work. Wanda and her sister Maurine tended sheep at the early ages of 6 and 8 years old in the Plymouth Mountains. She tended the sheep until she graduated from Bear River High School. She was one of three women that graduated that year, which she was very proud of. Wanda was married to Ivan Thomas Lloyd and later divorced. From this union came three children; Darlene, Thomas and Richard.

She worked various jobs during her life. One of her accomplishments, for Avon cosmetics, was top saleswoman during those 15 years. At the age of 51 she had a serious stroke. She retired from the Utah State Liquor Commission. While attending the Sunny Anderson's Senior Citizen Center, she learned to play the ukulele, did china painting, ceramics and played pinochle, where she ran the pinochle tournament for several years.

Wanda is survived by her daughter Darlene Simmons; her son Thomas M. Lloyd (Carolyn); 7 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters June Lewis, Renee Anderson and her brother Hal (Marva Lee) Mason. Preceded in death by her son Richard; siblings Maurine Brockman, Clair and Lloyd Mason and granddaughter Jennifer Hardy.

Thanks to Shelley and Richard who opened up their home and took loving care of Grandma Wanda for the past four years. Many thanks to Heartwood Hospice, especially Gurpreet and Kennia (CNA's) and Sam (nurse).

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2016, 12:00 noon, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, with a viewing at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
