John Warren Brown

1937 ~ 2019

Our loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on May 26, 2019. John was a kind, good-hearted man and anyone who knew him loved him. Even though he had so many hardships and trials, he was cheerful and always had a joke ready to brighten the day. John was born April 1, 1937 to John Joseph and Wilma Brown. He married his eternal angel wife, Ruby Dorius, on December 31, 1959.

John was a talented man and could fix anything. He opened up a repair shop "John's Electric and TV" which later evolved to "John's Electric." Little did he know that the business he started would not only provide for his family, but also many of his sons, sons-in-law, and grandsons learned from him. John proudly served his country in the Army and was based in Georgia during their early years of marriage before they settled in Salt Lake City/Sandy, Utah, to raise their family. John was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully wherever he was asked and obeyed without hesitation. He was an amazing example to his family and taught us well.

John was survived by his wife; 5 sons, Michael (Kim), Richard (Kim), Warren (Kim), Gregory (Karen), Jeremy (Terri); 4 daughters, Shelley (Jim) Birch, Jonna (Chris) Woodward, Karen (Jacob) Bennion, Emily (Mike) Faulkner; 27 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all those who cared for him over the years and for the love of so many family and friends. For 30 years, he suffered paralysis after a car accident. He suffered in silence and never complained. In fact, he always managed to cheer everybody else in the room, no matter how he felt. We will miss you so much, but we smile when we think of you finally free of your wheelchair after all this time! We love you.

Viewing will be Friday, May 31, 2019 from 6-8 pm and Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 9:30-10:45 am at the Hillcrest 5th Ward, 9045 South 915 East. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 am in the same location. Interment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights.
