On January 22nd, 2019, Mike passed suddenly and peacefully from this life and began his final fishing trip in heaven. Mike enjoyed spending all his free time out in nature, especially hunting and fishing. He found great joy in sharing those moments with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.
He was born the oldest of five children, often being tasked to help take care of the household. This taught him the values of hard work and self-sufficiency which he carried with him throughout his life. He had a very successful career in construction specializing in plaster and finish work, and he was always willing to use his knowledge and skills to help a friend in need. He seemed to find great joy in teaching others. He could often be found passing on his knowledge to anyone who was willing to learn the proper way. He and Patty loved to travel and could often be found spending time on the road in "The Bus".
Mike is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years Patty, four daughters; Hilary (Zane), Brandy (Adam), Tiffany, and Amber (Jake), and eight grandchildren; Kaden, Riley, Skyler, Michael, Kaylee, Addison, Cameron and Emma. He is preceded in death by his father Earl Varney, Father in law Usher West, and granddaughter Elizabeth Lingard.
A viewing in his honor will be held on Tuesday January 29, at 6-8 p.m. Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd 10600 S. Sandy UT 84092
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday January 30, at 11 a.m. at the Corner Canyon 2nd Ward located at 13366 S. 1300 E. in Draper, UT. A viewing will be held before the services from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
