Don Lewis Terry

1926 ~ 2017

Don Lewis Terry returned to his loving Heavenly Father and into the arms of his eternal sweetheart, Margaret, on June 26, 2017. He passed away of natural causes at the age of 90, after a long and full life. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, family, service, and faith.

"Big Lew" was born December 16, 1926, to Lewis and Agnes Peterson Terry in Fairview, Utah. He married Margaret Jones on September 22, 1951. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on July 19, 1963.

Dad's life revolved around his family. After serving in the Army during WWII, he and Margaret settled in Rose Park to raise their children. As an active member of the LDS Church, Don served in many capacities including scouting, Ward Clerk, Stake Missionary and Stake Executive Secretary. After 30 years in Rose Park, Don and Margaret retired to Sandy. They enjoyed the next 25 years traveling, camping with family, the Good Sam RV Club, and golfing. After Margaret passed away in 2007, Dad continued to center his life around his family. He reveled in his role as the family patriarch and being an amazing grandpa and great-grandpa. In November 2016, Don moved into the Legacy Independent Living Center, where he continued his unique way of meeting new friends and making people laugh and smile.

Big Lew retired from Kennecott after 35 years. His work ethic was formed during his youth growing up on the farm in Fairview. As a young man, he helped his dad build the family home from the ground up. He learned to labor with a song in his heart. Throughout his life, he was always singing to others. When we think of Gramps, we'll remember his love of golf, attending his grandkids' sporting events, his impeccable yard, Jazz games, his Birthday Song, his quick wit, and winning smile. We love you, Dadjo!

He is survived by his three children, LuAnn (Douglas) Riding, Craig Terry, and Lari (Michael) Johnson; twelve grandchildren and twenty-three and Ω great-grandchildren.
