Wesley Gene Bates

1973 ~ 2019

Wesley Gene Bates age 45 died January 2, 2019 in rural Utah county, Utah. He was the son of W. Gene Bates of Silver City, New Mexico and Nancy Lack of Herriman, Utah. Wes was an avid hunter and loved camping with family and friends. He was quick to grab his backpack to help anyone backpack an Elk or deer off the mountain or gather with them to cut-up the game. He enjoyed taking anyone on his Pontoon Boat for a day of water sports/fishing. He was a genuine storyteller. You never knew for sure if they were true or just partial true. He was loyal and generous to all those he knew. He valued his 17 years with the Army/ National Guard. He served two Deployments to Iraq and one deployment to Dugway, Utah for Olympic Security. He traveled to many parts of the World and all over our nation on different assignments. He worked in the Oil Fields and Construction sites of Utah as a Crane Operator and was always a valued employee.

He is survived by his father Gene Bates, his mother Nancy Lack, and two sisters: Bonnie (Mike) Rocko and Mary Kay Evans and 5 nephews: Austin, Jake, and Tanyon Rocko and Gentry and Dylan Evans.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Margaret Conley and his paternal grandparents, Pierce and Sybil Bates and one nephew, Randall Rocko.

Memorial Services were held on Sunday, January 6, 2019.
