Joy Madeline Crane Hotchkiss, our loving mother, grandmother, great≠grandmother, wife, sister and aunt passed away in the early morning hours on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in her daughter\s home in Bluffdale, UT surrounded by her family due to complications from a fall that broke her hip. She was 90 years young.
Sarge got her beloved and endearing nickname in 1972 because she was always "in charge"! Sarge was born on November 8, 1925 to Jay Jarvis Crane M.D. and Marguerite Common Crane in Los Angeles, CA. Sarge graduated from USC in 1946 with an elementary and secondary school teaching degree and taught 1st grade for many years. She married Jack Glen Hotchkiss on April 15, 1951 in Los Angeles, CA.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, daughter's Linda Joy (Robert) Gallegos, Susan Jayne (Al) Price, son Jay Rosewell (Lanah) Hotchkiss, four grandchildren and 4 great≠grandchildren.
Sarge and Pop raised their family in Los Angeles, CA and in June 2010 moved to their daughter, Linda\s, home in Bluffdale, UT to be closer to family.
